The Goal is Love
To reinforce medical service for veterans, their dependents
and the general public and to promote medical development in
southern Taiwan, the Veterans Affairs Commission, Executive
Yuan, R.O.C., launched the VGH-KS Construction Project in 1984
which was listed as one of the 14 Major Government Construction
Projects. The construction of VGH-KS began on 27 December 1986
and service was inaugurated on 31 October 1990. VGH-KS acquired
educational hospital certification on 20 June 1991 and was thereby
nominated as a medical center through Hospital Accreditation
by the Department of Health (DOH) on 28 January 1993. On 1 July
of the same year, VGH-KS was officially appointed as the Veterans
General Hospital-Kaohsiung and as a medical center in 1995.
VGH-KS, located in the northeast of Kaohsiung City and near
Cheng-Ching Lake and the freeway, has a land area of 16.845
hectares, in which 121,444 m2 is designated for medical service
and 69,621.5 m2 for affiliated buildings, including a 10-storey
medical building and a 5-storey OPD building.
