To maintain quality health care and prevent nosocomial infection, VGH-KS established the Medical QC Assessment Committee and Hospital Infection Control Committee. The major responsibilities of these committees are (1) to establish and monitor of quality indicators to help clinical departments control the quality of health care, (2) to regularly review problems and draft improvement plans, (3) to monitor infection trends inside the hospital, (4) to prevent outbreaks, (5)to provide counseling for nosocomial infection within the Kaohsiung medical care network, and (6) to provide training for infection control to nurses in southern Taiwan. Thanks to the concerted effort of everyone in the hospital, VGH-KS was awarded special honors for System Participation & Recommendation by the Executive Yuan in 1996.
