(1) Roof Garden
On a 4321-square-meter open-air balcony on the third floor, the hospital has a garden complete with gazebos, chairs, badminton courts and restaurants. In addition to landscaping the roof and providing a leisure space for patients, this garden helps reduce the roof heat absorption and thereby saves energy consumed by the hospital’s air-conditioning requirements.
(2) Green House Sheltered WorkShop
VGH-KS has a greenhouse that it uses a “sheltered workshop’ (midway home) for psychiatric patients. Before returning to society, they are able to receive pre-job training by selling flowers and fruit. In this workshop, the day ward patients may work in flower sales, flower arranging, packaging, cleaning and transport. An occupational therapist assigns duties to patients according to their abilities and supervises and trains them.
(3) Religious Rooms
There are places of worship for people of the Protestant, Catholic and Buddhist faiths. Religious volunteers are available to help them.
(4) Patient Library
Patients and their families can borrow journals, magazines and books to help occupy their time while under hospital care.
(5) Smoking Cessation Class
In response to the government's promotion of a "smoke-free environment," a smoking cessation class was established in 1993 to help people who want to quit smoking.
(6) Consumer Cooperative
The Consumer Cooperative is responsible for (a) a shopping center to supply general merchandise at reasonable prices, (b) beautician and laundry services for employees and patients, (c) agency that accepts authorization from members to apply for hire-purchases and consumer loans, and (d) the operation of a cafeteria-food store and a medical instruments as well as the operation the Greenhouse Florist and Green Grocer shops, which sell flowers and vegetables and fruits produced by the day ward patients in the Sheltered Greenhouse Workshop of psychiatric patients.
(7) Visitors Restaurant
This restaurant is run by a private party on contract from the Nutrition Office of the hospital to provide meals, snacks and beverages for visitors.
(8) Multi-story Parking Building
Provides a total of 460 parking spaces.
(9) Bank and Post Office
Provides comprehensive banking and postal services to patients and employees. The bank and post office are both inside the hospital. In addition to offering deposit, remittance, transfer and postal services, the bank also receives funds and handles salary payments for the hospital.
