The Division of Colorectal Surgery is committed to improving the quality of life of those with any condition affecting the small bowel, colon, rectum or anus. A full range of state-of-art investigations and treatments are offered on site. Being part of the Kaohsiung Veterans General Hospital allows frequent collaboration with physicians in other specialties and help us provide a unique service to the patient and referring physicians.
Kaohsiung Veterans General Hospital colorectal surgeons provide surgical evaluation and treatment for patients with congenital, acquired, inflammatory and neoplastic conditions of the bowel, rectum and anus. They also diagnose and manage abdominal and perineal complaints that may affect low intestinal tract.
The surgeons provide outpatient clinical and physiologic assessment and management of all anal and rectal complaints, with emphasis on pathological and functional conditions. Most anorectal conditions - including hemorrhoids, fissures, fistulae, anal warts and pilonidal disease - can be treated medically or surgically on an inpatient or outpatien basis.
Since 2000, the surgeons have gained extensive experience in performing laparoscopic surgery of the small bowel, colon and rectum for cancer and benign disease. The staff offers specialty expertise in rectal cancer surgery with avoidance of colostomy. Patient care for many individuals extends far beyond surgery. The division's enterostomal therapists and 'stoma club' give patients the skills they need to manage their ostomies.
As we move toward the 21st century - we are working hard to bring you the highest quality most innovative surgical care available. By combining clinical and surgical expertise with the resources available at Kaohsiung Veterans General Hospital, we are able to offer our patients the best care as possible.
