Introduction:

    Pediatric dentistry is an age-defined specialty that provides both preventive and therapeutic dental care for infants, children and adolescents. At Kaohsiung Veterans General Hospital, our Pediatric Dentistry Service is designed to help children feel at home and comfortable, and our experienced dental staff is trained to respond to the special concerns and needs of our patients. Children are offered the opportunity to see, touch and operate all of the dental equipment.

Before the first visit:

    The first visit at the dentist's office is an adventure for young children. They will discover many things about their teeth and themselves. Some children will come in excited and some will feel apprehensive. By choosing a Pediatric Dentist, you are taking an important first step in creating a positive dental attitude for your child. With specialty training and a fun environment, we hope to give your child a good dental experience, starting at a very young age. When we talk with children about dental care, we are careful to use words that create a positive and relaxed mind set. In other words, we use friendly terms and try to avoid words that might sound scary. You can help your child have a good first visit by also talking about dentists and dental care in a very positive but general manner. Our philosophy with dental care is simple: treat the child, not just the teeth. Our goal is to provide comprehensive care to all patients, while building self-esteem and self-confidence in each child.
