The Department of Otolaryngology was established in Oct 1990. It includes three divisions respectively to perform specialized services in areas related to otology, rhinology, and laryngology. The Division of Otology helps adult and pediatric patients rehabilitate hearing and has brought about remarkable results by tympanoplasties and stapedectomy for chronic otitis media, cholesteatoma and otoclerosis. Additionally, the division performs electonystagmography to deal with the evaluation and treatment of equilibrium disorders.
The Division of Rhinology performs resection and reconstruction of head and neck tumors, including skull base and craniofacial surgeries. In addition, the division uses endoscope and even microdebrider to perform FESS (functional endoscopic sinus surgery)under navigator system for chronic sinusitis, recurrent chronic sinusitis, choanoplasty for choanal atresia, and intranasal surgery for various benign nasal tumors; and use KTP laser to treat chronic hypertrophic rhinitis, allergic rhinitis.
The Division of Laryngology Head & Neck Surgery provides high quality treatment for head and neck tumors in the areas of oral cavity, oropharynx, larynx, hypopharynx, thyroid, salivary gland and cervical esophagus. The state-of-the-art endoscopic system and voice lab delivers individualized care for wide spectrum of voice, swallow and speech disorders, including speech rehabilitation of laryngectomees. It also offers multi-disciplinary exams and treatment for sleep disorders, such as snoring or obstructive sleep apnea. For decades, the nationally recognized team has won wide spread reputation in patient care, education and research.
