Division of Nuclear Medicine

Nuclear Medicine Division is located at the first floor of the main medical building of our hospital.  The mission comprises medical service, teaching, research and training.  There are twenty-three staff covering doctors, technicians, pharmacist, etc. in our division.

Medical service

        We provide many different scans including Myocardial perfusion scan, Whole body bone scan, Renal function test, Diuretic renography, DMSA renal scintigraphy, Gallium scan, etc. for more than 8000 examinees a year.  I-131 treatments for thyroid cancer and hyperthyroidism are available.

        We also offer many immunoassay items including tumor markers, hepatitis markers, hormone tests, therapeutic drug monitor for community.  We provide around 100,000 tests a year.

Teaching

We have  training programs for residents, interns, and students of nuclear technologist.

Research and training

Some research projects of National Science Council and Kaohsiung Veterans General Hospital are performed at our division.  Our staff have published many papers in domestic or international journals.

Up-to-date equipment

In order to offer better service, presently our division has installed a new generation PET/CT and a most efficient SPECT/CT.
