Pediatric surgery

Pediatric surgery means surgery of children from infancy to puberty, belongs to the field of both pediatrics and surgery. A pediatric patient should not be treated as a proportionally small sized adult patient. Although the child and adult has same organs and structured, but the maturity of tissue, proportion, and consistency are quite different. So it needs the combination of embryological, genetic, anatomical, physiological, and pathological knowledge to care and treat pediatric surgical patients. Most of the surgical problems of pediatric patients are congenital anomalies or structural defects that need to be repaired or reconstructed. Pediatric surgery is the combination of pediatrics, general surgery, plastic surgery, chest surgery, urology, and microsurgery.
