Department of Surgery History:
Department of Surgery was planned in 1986 and established since
1990. The first director was Professor Cheng, Kwok-Kei who is the pioneer of
heart transplantation in Taiwan. Three years later, Professor Cheng was
promoted to be deputy superintendent.
Professor Huang, Jong-Khing was elected to be the director of Department
of Surgery. Professor Huang is a
famous urologist, well-known in the field of prostate surgery. In 2003, Professor Cheng became the
superintendent. Professor Huang was promoted to be the deputy superintendent.
The 3rd director is Dr. Mok, King-Tong, who is a famous
hepato-biliary-pancreatic surgeon.

There are
104 staff in Department of Surgery. Our staff comprised of
41 attending
surgeons, 25 residents, 14 technicians, 24 nursing specialist. All of our attending surgeons had
qualified specialist board and receiving advanced training in America or Europe
in order to learn update knowledge. Master and PhD degrees are common among our
staff. In the past 17 years, 65 well-trained surgeons leave and play an important role at other hospitals in Taiwan. Facility: We have 239 beds, 32 intensive care unit beds (surgery, neurosurgery and cardiovascular surgery), 3 burn center beds, 24 operation rooms and 4 day-surgery operation rooms.

We also had cosmetics center, hyperbaric oxygen treatment center,
extracorporeal shockwave center, colonoscopy center, general surgery laboratory,
stone analysis laboratory, chest surgery laboratory. The facilities were established to
fulfill the demand of patients and provided best quality care to patients.
